The Gallipoli Medical Research Foundation (GMRF) is the Red Run charity partner.
GMRF is an Approved Research Institute (ARI) committed to life-changing medical research. Our focus on translational research with immediate and meaningful impact. Current research projects include veteran mental health, liver disease and liver cancer, ophthalmology, and respiratory illnesses.
We are a small foundation tackling some of the biggest illnesses of our time. Liver cancer is the fastest increasing cause of cancer mortality in the country, yet there remains only one treatment option for the advanced stage of this illness. Our Liver Cancer Unit is the only dedicated liver cancer research facility in Queensland, and they are committed to innovative research to develop immunotherapy and anti-metastasis therapy treatments. The goal is clear; to make liver cancer - which currently has a mortality rate of 85% within five years - a treatable chronic illness in our lifetime.
We are proud to be based on the campus of Greenslopes Private Hospital (GPH). The in-kind support we receive from GPH, in combination with the income we derive from our Clinical Trials Unit, pays for our administrative costs. Therefore, 100% of donations we receive go directly to life-changing medical research.
